Hart House Players is a student involvement initiative that originally existed from the early 20th century and has since been revived by Jeremy Hutton, then the artistic director of Hart House Theatre. The goal of this organization is to provide more opportunity for the inclusion of U of T students in the university’s theatre scene.
Unlike the many other drama societies at the university, Hart House Players are not confined by having to fill quotas regarding members’ college affiliation – students from all of U of T campuses, faculties, and colleges are welcome! Another unique feature of the Hart House Players is that our goal is to produce only student written work, in addition to being student cast, directed, managed and produced by students.
- We host regular FREE workshops once a month which are open to members of U of T and the general public.
- We present full productions of student written work.
- We have an annual play contest that offers cash prizes and the chance to receive a full production of your play!
- We are always looking for original scripts written by U of T students. We also need student actors, directors, tech crew, stage managers, and costumers!
Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to see how you can get involved.
