Pinhole Photography - 4482
Description: The course will teach the basic principles of photography: light refraction, camera optics, and basic darkroom procedure-developing prints. The class will be completely hands-on. We will build the cameras out of boxes provided (or that the students bring to class), we will make photographs together as a group or individually, but within close proximity to each other so we can collaborate on ideas. Due to the nature of pinhole photography, the time for exposures will be long and therefore limited by time and resources - only one photograph at a time - so the students must think hard about what is important enough for them to take a photograph of.
Our aim is to slow down photography to examine the speed and invisibility of the process involved and to evaluate the processes of reproduction at their most basic level. Instructor: Nicolas Scroggins NOTE: Deadline to withdraw from this class is 5:00 pm on May 22. A $15 withdrawal fee applies.
