Hart House Chamber Strings

Hart House Chamber Strings is a student-run ensemble at Hart House, University of Toronto. Conducted by Oliver Balaburski, Chamber Strings performs three concerts each year—fall, spring and a pops concert in the winter.

Hart House Chamber Strings is a student-run music ensemble that is made up of students and alumni from various programs and departments at the University of Toronto who all share a love for music. We currently have about forty members, more than most chamber groups, which enables us to occasionally divert from the realm of “standard” chamber music and take on an eclectic repertoire.

Current UofT students and Hart House alumni members may join Hart House Chamber Strings. During the course of the year rehearsals take place on Monday nights from 7:30 to 10:00 pm. As this is a non-audition ensemble, there is an annual open rehearsal in mid-September, where interested parties are welcomed to come out with their instrument.
